Ever wanted to make those delicious red velvet cupcakes that you see in bakeries? Just follow these simple steps, and you’ll put the bakeries out of business! (Printable recipe below)
For the cupcakes:

1/4 cup butter

3/4 cup sugar

1 egg

1 tablespoon & 1/4 teaspoon cocoa powder

1 teaspoon red food coloring

1 1/4 cups flour
-
1/2 teaspoon salt
-
1 teaspoon vanilla
-
1/2 cup buttermilk
-
1 ounce water
-
1/2 teaspoon white vinegar

1/2 teaspoon baking soda
For the icing:

4 ounces cream cheese
-
1/4 cup unsalted butter
-
3/4 cup powdered sugar
-
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cupcake directions:
Start by preheating your oven to 350º F. Then, mix the butter and sugar until it’s fluffy (I recommend using an electric mixer.) Next, add the egg and mix well. Now, in a small bowl mix the cocoa powder and food coloring. Add it to the mixing bowl. Combine the salt and flour in a small bowl, and add this mixture to the mixing bowl as well as vanilla, butter milk, and water. Mix the vinegar and baking soda in a separate bowl, then fold it in to the mixing bowl. Pour the batter into a cupcake tin, and bake for 25 minutes.
Icing directions:
First, blend the cream cheese and butter with an electric mixer. Then, add powdered sugar and vanilla. Blend until smooth. Spread the cream cheese icing onto the cupcakes. And thats it!
